I have always found a sense of belonging to a community through volunteering. Being a mother of two girls, I have volunteered at their schools and other organizations that they were part of as they were growing up. I got introduced to Community Seva through my cousin Maggie and have been volunteering since alongside several other dedicated volunteers for last few years. This organization has taught me the true sense of selfless service, giving back to the community unconditionally and dedication. I’m immensely grateful for this opportunity, to be part of this team and hoping to live the words ‘Giving more than what we take’ in every sense.

I joined Community Seva in later part of 2014 . There is nothing more rewarding than the feeling I get after serving food to a hungry person. I believe that we need to put our best foot forward when reaching out to people who are less fortunate than us. In last 2 years of my association with Community Seva, numerous times I have felt gratitude towards the blessings in my life and it has helped me get over the hurdles of day to day life. It has taught me to be humble, thankful and be happy with what I have. I believe my association with Comm. Seva has made me into a better person.
I am a resident of Bay Area over 19 years, working in the software industry. Married to a wonderful wife and blessed with two beautiful kids. I love to cook and try different things in my spare time.
One fine day, a quick google search resulted in me joining Community Seva as a volunteer to serve few hours of my time to cook for and serve the needy. It was after my first Seva, seeing smiles and appreciation from so many people, I realized how we can make a difference by sparing sometime of our life for the community where we live. I truly appreciate Community Seva for providing me the opportunity to be part of its great mission to serve the needy.
Margaret began working with Community Seva through the Anti-Hunger Club, a club she advises as an elementary school teacher. Although she teaches 3rd grade, the club is made up of 4th-6th graders who spend the year holding fundraisers to benefit organizations like Community Seva. Having taught in the Evergreen School District for 20+ years, she has seen a diverse range of student needs. At some schools, the children faced food insecurity and lacked access to basic necessities, but at her current school, the need was to get outside their bubble and open their eyes to the challenges their community faces. Partnering with Community Seva provides Margaret and her students with the opportunity to give back and serve others.

I am a full time software professional and a mother of 2. For our kids’ birthday this year, we wanted to introduce them to some charitable cause instead of a regular party. I learnt about “Community Seva” from a friend and contacted Nathan. My kids had the most memorable experience ever, serving the needy. My daughter cannot wait to volunteer while I have been a regular volunteer since January 2017. What drives me to support this noble cause, is to experience the smile on the faces of these less fortunate people first hand. It is truly gratifying.

Busy schedule as a Recruiting Manager for a large IT Company didn’t stop Vincent from giving back to the community; to him, it has long been a passion. When he was still in India, Vincent has been working with many organizations with one common goal: helping those in need. In Sacramento, he helped serve the less-fortunates including providing food, household items and school supplies. After moving to the Bay Area, through a colleague, Vincent was introduced to Community Seva; it didn’t take long for him to feel right at home here with many of the Sevas undergoing each week. He often said: “Each smile on people’s faces we serve brings me a smile of my own.”
