San Jose Floods
On a rainy, windy night in February , Community Seva volunteers set a perfect example for going above and beyond in serving the Community. Our volunteer team stepped up to help the San Jose residents who were the victims of recent floods in San Jose by providing 160 backpacks filled with winter emergency kits (Beanie, gloves, socks, rain ponchos, towel, blankets). These backpacks were very useful to those residents who lost their belongings due to this unexpected flood. The impacted residents were temporarily staying in James Lick High School in San Jose at the time.
In addition, just during this winter alone, we distributed close to 850 of these filled backpacks to HomeFirst homeless shelters at three different locations in San Jose, Sunnyvale and Gilroy.
To our surprise, NBC News crew spotted our team who were carrying out this selfless service and interviewed our Founder & President – Nathan Ganeshan and were impressed with the organization’s contribution to those in need. Thanks to NBC for airing the interview.
Thanks to San Jose District 8 Councilwoman Sylvia Arenas and her staff for their timely support in making this happen.
Here are the few pictures taken during the distribution.
